Our clients were looking to purchase the property but wanted to explore how the existing bungalow could be transformed into a modern, beach house style home that accommodated their coastal lifestyle. The design sought to simply raise the existing eaves level and replace the roof to create a vaulted and spacious first floor that retained the pattern of development along the road to reduce planning risk. Small extended areas were added to create extra space and articulated with areas of timber cladding.
The material were kept light and fresh, to bring together a feeling of coastal relaxation.
